A lesson for the Italian left
In November, the Socialist Party (section CWI and sister organization of counter-Ireland), together with the People before Profit (group born a few years ago at the initiative of the Socialist Workers' Party) and the Committee of Struggle of the Unemployed County Tipperary gives life to the United Left Alliance (ULA ). They have 18 candidates with a program to combat the crisis completely alternative to other political forces:
1. banks and financial institutions in public and subject to democratic control;
2. taxation of profits and income from work, stop the cuts and privatization and public intervention to create jobs;
3. equality of all citizens, without discrimination di età, orientamento sessuale, razza, religione: i lavoratori stranieri contrattualizzati come quelli irlandesi per evitare la competizione sul costo del lavoro;
4. investimenti sulle energie alternative e riconversione dell’economia a tutela dell’ambiente e della salute dei cittadini.
Infine la ULA si impegna a costruire un nuovo partito di massa dei lavoratori, irlandesi e immigrati, dei disoccupati, dei pensionati e degli studenti che lottano per cambiare la società; a non allearsi coi partiti moderati e a lavorare per estendere la propria esperienza sul piano internazionale. ‘La formazione della United Left Alliance – recita il programma della coalizione – è parte di un processo European and international level that seeks to develop movements and organizations that fight against the attack on workers, the unemployed and the poor and fighting for an alternative society '. The result of the vote held last Friday is really striking and shows the potential for a coherent policy in support of workers and lower classes. An exceptional result because the strength of a concrete example is worth a thousand words.

The Italian left in this sense is a dead man walking. Today this is the question that must be addressed immediately, in a serious and possibly in an international framework. In July, Joe Higgins, along with other the European left and the world will be in Italy at the invitation to participate in counter-initiatives on the theme of the alternative social and political crisis in capitalism through it continuously.
