Rappresentanti representative

What does it take for a person to represent a certain social group? Should that embodies the characteristics of that group. Or that is mandated to represent them.

I'm intentionally confusing two different meanings of the verb be because I find it amusing (or disturbing, as appropriate) the idea that those who represent a certain group may not be a representative of that group.

When the parents of the students (and even high school students themselves) send to a class council representative, send one of them.
When the MotoGP riders are to discuss security problems send a representative who is also a pilot.
The first one would think that spring from the group representatives.

But not always work that way.
For example, if we talk about unions. A trade unionist, that is, one that represents workers in many cases is one that does not work (posting,) and sometimes not even an employee of the same company for workers going to represent. The more you level up the more it exacerbates this difference, with the result that workers often end up complaining that "not feel represented. " (If you're wondering: yes, I saw Report last Sunday, but these are things that you have known for a long time)

Let us see what happens with politics. The politician was elected to his program (or its support or its importance in your party has the votes or because of exchange etc.). But not because it embodies the characteristics of their constituencies.
No, wait a minute. Perhaps it's a distinction, because on closer inspection it seems to me that the gap between representative and represented both a problem of the left, not right wing. The industrialists have their representatives who are industrialists, the conservatives have their representatives who are conservatives, racists and bell have their representatives who are racist and parochial.
E 'on the left that no longer understands what the link between the electorate and the elected politicians.
Maybe that's why the right and the left does not. Unless you want to be naughty and left thinking that this works fine ... to the right!
A little 'how those trade unionists who held at bay while the workers make agreements with industry to consolidate its privileges. Then they turn from the base and explain that it is better for everyone. " But all of those?

I'm doing whatever. 'S terrible! Then

back to talk about vocabulary. On De Mauro
there are a lot of meanings for the verb "represent .
ones I mentioned so far are the "second" ( express the traits, embody ) and the "fifth" ( operate, acting on behalf of others, esp. defending interests).
But I do not mind even the "4" ( interpret, enact impersonate ...) that contains that bit of fiction that is fucking with my polemics.

My first teacher of Italian in high school called Bianchini, was young, handsome, casual. He enjoyed joking about Dante and Beatrice about the verse "So gentle and so honest seems " the predicate "think" can be interpreted as "shows" but also "seems". Look a bit 'what it's like if you say, "So gentle and so honest it seems."

Perhaps that is the same when we think of the representatives that represent us ...

Sticazzi and Gliel'ammollare

Then one says that the languages are not important ...

in Florence If you hear one that says "Sticazzi" you have to interpret as "wow, Wow, none other." A concept that is expressed in Rome with the words “mei cojoni!”

La persona a cui viene “ammollato”, catch him in that place, real or figurative.

Now I do not think of a nice combination of these terms in the form of uplifting story that exemplifies clever puns and misunderstandings misinterpreted due to poor knowledge of their languages (something like "a Florentine and Roman meet. The Florence tells the Roman ... etc. "). Imagine yourself, so the meaning is clear.

And always remember: it is important to get them, even those who do not believe that they can be different from each other and instead they are!
